Building Trades Instructor

Full-time position beginning the 2018-19 school year. Must have five years documented work experience with a working knowledge of all aspects of residential home construction, electric, plumbing, masonry, building code and safety OR PA Tech Ed/Industrial Arts Certification. Individual must have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage and motivate high school students. Successful candidate must complete PDE required college course work and certification process if not already certified.

Western Area Career & Technology Center is accepting applications for a full-time, 188-day, bargaining unit position Collision Repair Technology instructor for the 2018-2019 school year.

The preferred candidate should be currently certified as a CTE Auto Repair instructor. Consideration will be given to all candidates who have at least five years of wage-earning experience directly related to collision repair and refinishing, have ASE certification in at least two areas (one of which must be in painting/refinishing), and who possess an Occupational Competency Assessment Certificate in CTE Auto Repair or are prepared to pass the assessment administered by an approved university. Middle Bucks Institute of Technology is seeking a computer instructor for their Adult Evening School starting with the 18-19 school year. Candidates will teach MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Office. Microsoft Office Specialist Certification preferred. Most courses meet for one or two nights a week for two to eight weeks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays during the fall and spring semesters. A minimum of two years’ experience teaching adults, good communication skills, and good organizational skills are required. The hourly rate is competitive and clearances are required.

The Franklin County Career and Technology Center is seeking a full-time instructor to teach Automotive Technology starting with the 2018-19 school year. Vocational teaching certification in Auto Tech is preferred. Specific experience teaching basic automotive theory, wheel alignment, steering and suspension service, brake service, electronic fuel injection and electrical and electronics training is desirable. Four (4) years working in the field of automotive repair and maintenance is required.

Qualifications

Experience working with youth a plus. Verbal/written communication skills and familiarity with Microsoft computer applications essential. Candidates must be a graduate of the Act 120 Municipal Police Training program with a minimum of three years police experience. College degree in Criminal Justice preferred. Interested applicants should demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system and experience with the courts, corrections, probation, children and family services, juvenile justice, emergency services, and homeland security. Familiarity and/or training with National Incident Management and Command Incident Systems a plus. Appropriate PA vocational instructional certification or the successful candidate must complete PDE required College course work in Education & certification process.

CTC of Lackawanna County - Henry J. Dende Campus

Collision Repair Instructor

The collision repair instructional program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair damaged automotive vehicles such as automobiles and light trucks. Students learn to examine damaged vehicles and estimate cost of repairs; remove, repair and replace upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders; remove and replace glass; repair dented areas; replace excessively damaged fenders, panels and grills; straighten bent frames or unibody structures using hydraulic jacks and pulling devices; and file, grind and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools. Students refinish repaired surfaces by painting with primer and finish coat. The successful candidate must possess communication skills which will be required to convey the description, purpose, requirements, course prerequisites, curriculum and student responsibilities of the collision repair program to students, parents, educators, and general public. 

Starting Date

2018-2019 school year.

Salary & Benefits

Based upon education, work experience and teacher contract. Approximate salary range $39, 269 -- $43, 184 (190 days). Benefits include full health insurance, term life insurance, long term disability insurance and PSERS retirement.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a high school diploma and have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of documented vocational related work experience in related areas.
PDE teaching certificate preferred or willing to enroll with an approved teacher certification program to become certified with the Department of Education as a vocational instructor.
Have passed or be willing to take and pass Occupational Competency Assessment (OCA) in Collision Repair 2005 (CIP # 47.0603) administered by an approved vocational institution.
